thingsmatter’s environmental sculpture, “Personal Space” celebrates our contradictory desires and expectations for city life. Noisy, colorful vitality first attracts, then overwhelms us, elliciting retreat into microenvironments which we can control. The passage from publicity to privacy is intimacy; the labyrinth of social potential in which relationships are formed.
